Our commercial scaffold and access projects cover a diverse range of buildings and projects. One of the factors that often defines commercial scaffold projects is that the buildings are public spaces and are required to carry on their function whilst any work is being carried out.
Our commercial projects have included work on High Street Banks, schools and colleges where specific access has been required for maintenance or repair of a building or facilities, as well as new build projects!
Whilst work is carried out, the safety of the public is paramount and we work closely with our commercial clients in ensuring that any works are not causing any danger to the general public or staff.
Whatever the job, the price comes down to the same handful of variables. Understanding them makes comparing quotations far easier.
1. How long it stands. Hire period is usually the largest single line. A scaffold priced for four weeks and left up for fourteen becomes an expensive scaffold, and extension charges are where cheap quotations stop being cheap. We would rather quote the honest programme at the start.
2. What it has to carry. Scaffolds are designed to a duty class under BS EN 12811-1, recorded on the handover certificate and not to be exceeded:

A Class 2 scaffold uses less material than a Class 4, so it quotes cheaper — and is the wrong scaffold if your roofer is loading out stone slate. If prices differ sharply, compare the class before the number.
3. Whether it stands on the highway. If any part sits on the footway, verge or carriageway it needs a licence from the highway authority, and the fee varies enormously depending which council you are in. Oxfordshire charges £250 a month; Buckinghamshire £383.60 for 28; Gloucestershire £145 for 28. Each of our county pages sets out the local figures.
Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, a scaffold must be inspected by a competent person before first use, at intervals of no more than seven days thereafter, and again after anything likely to have affected its stability. Each inspection must be recorded.
The part most people do not realise: after handover, the duty to arrange those inspections sits with whoever is using the scaffold — the homeowner’s builder, or the principal contractor — not with the scaffolding company. We do the handover inspection and tag the scaffold, and we will carry out the weekly inspections as part of the hire if you instruct us to. Agree it rather than assume it. A tag is a supplementary check, not the statutory record.

Temporary roofs can span anything up to 40m, can be erected using a crane, or can be installed with a rolling track to aid installation and reduce hire costs for phased work.
Temporary roofs are typically sheeted using keder sheets that are installed in tracks, but can also be sheeted using corrugated iron, or aluminium cladding sheets. For more irregularly shaped roofs, we can use shrink wrapping to provide a perfect neat finish to a roof of any shape or size.
