Scaffolding in Northampton
Northampton is a little under half an hour from our yard at Enslow, up the A43. It is the biggest town we cover and one of the few places where you deal with a single council for everything — which, if you have ever run a job in Oxfordshire, you will appreciate.

Across the border in Oxfordshire a pavement job means the county council for the highway licence and the district council for planning — two bodies, two timescales, and a start date that depends on both. West Northamptonshire Council is a unitary authority, so it is the highway authority and the planning authority. One application, one point of contact, and in our experience a quicker answer. It is a small thing until you are waiting on it.
The old shoe factories
Northampton made boots and shoes for two centuries and the Victorian factory buildings are still standing, most of them now flats or offices. Tall, solid brick, awkward rear elevations and usually occupied — the access has to be designed around people living inside.
Town centre & Market Square
One of the largest market squares in England, ringed by listed and locally listed frontages sitting straight onto the pavement. Highway licence, pedestrian route kept open, and fixings into joints rather than face brick.
Abington, Kingsthorpe & Far Cotton
Victorian and inter-war terraces making up much of the town. Re-roofs, chimneys, repointing and rendering — and on the terraces, scaffold that has to be got through the house because there is no side access at all.
Brackmills & the distribution parks
Northampton is a national logistics hub. Industrial access on warehousing and distribution units that run around the clock, so the work happens around them rather than the other way round.
The Nene is closer than you think
The River Nene runs through the south of the town and the flood plain reaches further than people expect — Far Cotton, St James and the Waterside area all sit low. Ground that carries a loaded standard in summer will not in winter. We sole-board properly and spread the load rather than assuming, and on riverside work we will say so at quotation stage rather than finding out on site.
What we put up here
- Domestic — extensions, loft conversions, re-roofs, chimneys, repointing, rendering and solar.
- Terraced access — where there is no side gate and everything comes through the house.
- Conversions — long-duration access on former factory and industrial buildings.
- Commercial and industrial — units that stay in operation while we work.
- Temporary roofs — weather protection spanning up to 40 metres, craned in or on a rolling track.
How we work
Free site visit and a written quotation stating the hire period. CISRS-qualified scaffolders working to TG20 and SG4. RAMS and a job-specific toolbox talk before work starts. Statutory inspections at least every seven days while the scaffold is in use. Advanced CHAS accredited, and Oxfordshire Prestige Awards Scaffold Company of the Year four years running.
We cover Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire too — including Banbury and Milton Keynes, both a short run from Northampton.
